A little over three years ago I looked at a mucky, dark turf shed and though "what if". Three years on and what it has manifested itself into is a little more than what I could have expected. Originally it was intended as somewhere near home that I could train in without having to make the two hour round trip to the work gym, just a place I could do my own thing and get my sessions done.
However as the project got underway it started to take on a life of its own. The "What If's" got a little more adventurous. What if we made it a little bit bigger, What if we redone the roof, what if I got more equipment, what if others wanted to come out and train with me, What if I started classes, What if I took this seriously and made a proper go of it. What if I make a business out of this.
So from there the point of focus changed from building something for myself to delivering a service to help others. The progression and journey to date has been great fun. Classes have grow in support with more clients joining us regularly. From ladies and gents bootcamp classes to resistance training and personal training. The services grew and so did the support.
Watching the improvements in clients has been the most rewarding part of this adventure. Clients completing something they've never done before, lifting a weight they never lifted before, clients feeling more confident about their training and not being scared to do things anymore, all just some of the points I've notice.
Our point of difference.
I can't count the amount of times that someone has told me "you need to go bigger" "Move to a warehouse" "put more people into your classes" and ever time I've heard it I've shot it down for a very simple and valid reason. I'd rather keep numbers small and techniques right. More people doesn't always mean more success, in fact sometimes it can actually be the opposite! if I cant see you then how can i help you? That's why our classes are small, so you don't get lost in a crowd, so you can't cheat and get away with it, so you get that correction you needed, so your results are that little bit easier to achieve.
So here we are at the outset of 2020, although the turf shed has come a long way in a very short space of time it still feels like we're still only starting out and I'm really excited about where we're heading and I hope you are too.
